Tiger Conservation: Why It Will Work
As humanity transforms (terraforms) the Earth, suitable habitat diminishes for other species and biodiversity decreases. Large species requiring expansive habitats such as tigers, become isolated in islands of suitable and protected habitats due to human encroachment. There are people and organizations that are fighting these forces of extinction. Below is a video about the World Wildlife Fund's campaign, Save Tigers Now, to stop the elimination of habitat and therefore decrease in numbers, of wild tigers.
(World Wildlife Fund) Wild tigers can do things that seem impossible -- like bounce back from extremely close encounters with the forces of extinction if we give them half a chance. But do we have the will to make that happen?
Save Tigers Now is a global campaign by WWF, supported by Leonardo DiCaprio, that runs during the Chinese Year of the Tiger, 2010. Our goal is to build political and public support to double the number of wild tigers by 2022, the next Year of the Tiger.
